Membership

REQUIREMENTS

Limited to accredited investors as defined in the Membership Application. Individuals must have a net worth or joint net worth of $1,000,000 and a history of venture investing or a serious desire to make venture investments. For organizations, the standard Regulation D requirement is applicable. Companies or organizations cannot hold membership, but may enroll up to two representatives.

Annually, before January 15, members must submit a statement that they or their organization have made a venture investment of $50,000 or more in the last 24 months.

Venture investments, with the exception of venture capital funds, DO NOT include passive investments like real estate partnerships, etc.

Presently, membership is limited to 50 with a maximum of two members from the same organization. If there is a waiting list, a potential new member who is the second representative of an organization has no priority over individual applicants.

An applicant, according to their profession, may be asked to sign a statement that they are joining for venture opportunities and not to solicit the membership or presenters.

The annual membership fee is $600 and is prorated for new members.

There is a Leave of Absence category. The rules are:

  • Minimum of one year unless the returning member pays all back dues.
  • If the member pays $100, he/she can go to the top of the waiting list, if applicable, when ready to rejoin.
  • The $100 cannot be used as a credit against future dues.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

Applicants requesting a membership list to determine if they would like to join, will be circulated for 20 days with the following terminology:

The following have requested a membership list to determine if they want to join.  Your lack of vote will be considered an affirmative if they decide to become a member.

If less than two negative votes are received, a membership list is mailed to the applicant. They automatically become a member if they so decide.
